Self Improvement Hypnosis

Self hypnosis is a great tool for goal setting and self improvement. Most people are surprised at how easy it is to learn self-hypnosis. And self-hypnosis, in turn, makes a lot of things much easier.
Self hypnosis is usually thought of as a person listening to an audio tape, mp3, or other mass-produced media, intended to induce a willingness to absorb suggestions centered around a specific topic such as weight loss, stop smoking, etc.
Unfortunately, this kind of hypnosis is generally prepared by someone who has never met the person being hypnotized, often presenting unwanted, even unpleasant imagery and suggestions.
For example, if you sunburn easily, that last thing you want to hear about is a slow walk on a sunny beach. In this case, the "self" in self hypnosis simply means that you listen to it by yourself.
How do you incorporate self improvement to hypnosis?
To be able to go about self improvement, there are certain aspects in you that should be addressed. Using hypnosis, the negative aspects that are serving as hindrances to improvement are eliminated.
A true self hypnosis would necessarily be designed and created by the very person who will ultimately use and benefit from it.
Unlike the mass-produced hypnosis, this hypnosis is made for the exact purpose the person wishes, including the precise words and phrases that mean the most to that particular person.
The true self hypnosis is thus crafted by the person to suit his or her own needs. The benefits derived could only be accomplished with such a personal, one-of-a-kind hypnosis. In this case, the "self" in self hypnosis really does mean that you are hypnotized by yourself!
Below is a short view of the self hypnotic process. Though lots of variations of this method have been used, these are the basic steps you have to go through in order to hypnotize yourself to accomplish self improvement.
1. Position your goals from the most important goal to the less important. If possible, your goals should be measurable.
2. For each goal, you should formulate fitting suggestions which means you have to convert your goals into specific instructions to your subconscious mind on how to achieve each goal.
3. Relaxation. Use the first minutes of your self hypnotic session to get as relaxed as possible. Try to forget all your worries and problems.
4. Start your hypnotic initiation phase by saying and repeating out loud the hypnotic words you have chosen, thinking of these words or listening to a hypnotic tape or CD customized for your hypnotic and goal fulfillment needs.
5. Apply the hypnotic suggestions you have made for reaching the specific goal you work with, say them out loud, think them or use a tailored hypnotic tape or CD.
Before you start up your self hypnotic exercises you should make a time schedule for it. Do your hypnotic sessions every day, five minutes a day is enough. Repeat your suggestions as often as possible during the day.
Measure your progress. Are you closer to your goal now than you were before you started? Ask yourself. If you answer negative to these questions, you have to rethink and reorganize your train of thoughts.
This is the only way you can find out if this method is really helping you in achieving your self improvement goals.

History Of Hypnosis

The evidence of Hypnosis is as old as the origin of mankind itself. For example, the genesis writers had reported that God put Adam in deep sleep & took his rib to form Eve. Plus in book "The World's Greatest Hypnotists" authors John C. Hughes & Andrew E. Rothovius (published in 1996) spots ancient record suggesting hypnosis was used by the oracle at Delphi and in rites in ancient Egypt. And the book the "Manu-Smriti" in Sanskrit from India provides categories of different states of hypnosis.
In fact, the modern history of Hypnosis goes back to late 1700s, when Franz Anton Mesmer's discovery revived an interest in hypnosis. He is considered the father of modern hypnosis.
Franz Anton Mesmer (1734-1815 ) was born in the village of Iznang, in Germany. The term "mesmerism" was given after him. Mesmerism was described as a process of inducing trance through use of magnets. However, the medical community discredited him despite his considerable discovery leading to Hypnosis. Hurt by his accomplishment the medical establishment arranged for an official French government investigating committee. This committee included Benjamin Franklin, who was the American ambassador to France, and Joseph Guillotine.
James Braid (1795-1860) became interested in mesmerism. He said that in the experiment by Mesmer, there is something beyond the effect of magnet only. In 1842 he developed the technique of eye fixation & called it hypnosis. The word Hypnosis was taken from Hypnos, the Greek god of sleep. However later, he tried to change the name to monoeidism but the original name of hypnosis remained popular.
Next, Jean Marie Charcot (1825-1893), a French neurologist, worked further on mesmerism & classified trance in three stages: lethargy, catalepsy and somnambulism. He was opposed by Nancy School of Hypnotism, who believed that hypnosis was simply a manifestation of hysteria. This difference in opinion created bitter enmity between this school & Charcot.
Later a French neurologist and psychologist Pierre Janet (1847-1947) continued his work on Hypnosis relating to psychoanalytical rage.
Ivan Petrovich Pavlov (1849-1936) a Russian psychologist & Nobel Prize winner studied the digestive process & psychology. In one experiment on dogs he associated sight of food with sound of bell. This association caused dogs to salivate by hearing sound of a bell even there is no food present.
Emile Coue (1857-1926) a physician formulated Laws of Suggestion. He used to encourage his patient repeatedly saying every night "Every day in every way I am getting better & better" from this experiment he discovered that this leads to positive effect in curing of patient.

Dog psychology: my parents dog is nurotic, nice but nurotic. Anyone hear about therapy for dogs that works?
Like hypnosis or medication (like Prozac or Zoloft)
or behavior modification
the dog whisperer
I'm half having fun with this question (i don't really believe they have medication for dogs like for humans)
But the dog is nurotic and could use some boost in her self image.
She's so submissive the cat rules our house
It is the parents that most likly need the therapy. It is the owners that cause the pets to become neurotic.
They do, however, prescribe Prozac for pets. Mostly dogs, but we are using it in our cat shelter for spraying females. Not showing a lot of promise, but it is worth a try. It has worked better for dogs in certain situations.
Hypnosis Cds

Why don't self hypnosis cds work for me!? Is it my intellectual working mind?
I've tried to experience past lives with denise linn, time travel with bruce goldberg, energy balancing with diane stein, and most recently recieve spiritual sight and ears to travel through the ten dimensions with Gary Spivey. The only problem is that these guided meditations don't seem to work for me. I've asked and asked why and found out that 25 percent of the population require a different method to fall into hypnosis because they have an intellectual and analytical mind. I'm pissed because I can't experience these spiritual quickenings because I guess I'm not dumb and suggestible enough to be hypnotized by a cd. Does anyone else have this problem! Imagine not being able to meet God and your angels (according to Gary Spivey and Bruce Goldberg) because your not dumb enough, I guess it kinda sucks being an intellectual after all. Please help, anybody!
Because not everyone is a prime candidate for hypnosis. The harder you try the harder it is to do. Like when you try hard to force yourself to go to sleep, you can't, and when you try hard to stay awake, you can't. You get the opposite of what you were trying so hard to do. Hypnosis is all about the ability to allow yourself to receive suggestions through relaxation, and they are suggestions, you still have the ability to decide if you will or you won't.
