Reduce Your Stress With Self Hypnosis Techniques

self hypnosisHypnosis has long been used in helping people achieve less stress in their lives, succeed in meditation, find out things about their past that they did not know, and so much more. Self hypnosis is simply inducing hypnosis on yourself.

There are several different self hypnosis techniques that you can try. Hypnosis is nothing to be afraid of, it is simply a state of concentrated, focused attention. Self hypnosis can help you get into a deep relaxed state much like in meditation.

When this is done on a regular basis (daily is ideal) you can help heal your body of stress and anxiety. It can even help you become a physically healthier person by increasing your metabolism, building up your immune system, and even preventing various ailments and illnesses.

How To Do Self Hypnosis

Here is a hypnosis induction technique made famous by Betty Erickson:

First you will need to find a comfortable position. You should be seated. Keep your eyes open for now, talking in deep breaths and allow your mind and body to relax. Try to use your internal clock to regulate your self hypnosis time periods. Say to yourself before you begin, " I am going to practice self hypnosis for ten minutes". You may be surprised at how well your internal clock can work!

Next, make a statement about the purpose of your self hypnosis. What do you want to achieve from your hypnosis states? Say it out loud to yourself. Allow your mind to turn this need or want over to your unconscious mind. State how you want to feel when you are done with this session. Maybe you want to come back feeling rested and awake. Maybe you want to come back feeling less stressed and calm. You choose your goal.

Now you need to recognize three things in front of you that you can see and name them out loud. Next you will need to recognize three things that you can hear. Then you will need to notice three things that you can feel. All of this allows you to incorporate these things into your session rather than be distracted by them.

Now it is time to close your eyes. Gently bring an image to your mind – any image. This should be easy. Name what you are visualizing. Now take a few seconds to allow a sound to come to you and name it. Now use your imagination and say what you feel such as the warm sun.

Repeat the entire process with two of every sound, image and feeling, and then move on to three. This is the end of the process and you should feel your body and mind "waking up".
