Myrtle (Myrtus communis) is in the myrtle (Myrtaceae family). It is mentioned three times in the Bible:

Nehemiah 8:15, Isaiah 41:19 and

"That will come in joy and be led in peace, the mountains and the hills before they began to sing, and all the trees of the field clap their hands. Instead of the thorn shall come up the cypress tree, instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle, and will be with the Lord as a memorial for an everlasting sign that can not be cut. "Isaiah 55:12-13
