Next, a visit to the store and ask if they handle your vehicle make and model. Check to see how long they've been in business. What kind of feeling that get on the site? Are you treated with courtesy? Does the staff behave professionally?

Look around the place. What types of vehicles appear to be in the repair phase? It looks like everything is being handled professionally? Do not be shy in talking to people in the waiting room to see who have tried the shop before and how they are happy with the service they received in the past.
My number one suggestion is to ask around and see where others have had satisfactory car repair work. Even if you feel stressed and hurry, ask at least 15 people. Thus, it is likely to get the same place mentioned more than once. A little time spent on the basics can save a lot of trouble in the long term. And once you find mechanic you trust, your future car looks much brighter.
