What are some goods methods to reduce stress?

I am a person who is fairly prone to worrying, and I often stress about the future, my study and work plans and other things that really should be trivial. My stress isn't out of control, but I'd like to be able to relax more. Does anybody have any idea on how I could do this?

Thankyou :)

Stress management has three basic components:

1. Self care. This increases your ability to experience stress. make sure you are getting enough sleep, eating healthy food, exercising, having some fun.

2. Relaxation. This reduces the impact of stress and anxiety right now. Try learning a relaxation technique, mediation or deep breathing exercises.

3. Coping. Deal with the sources of your stress. Figure out which you can change and which have to be endured. Change those you can, and use the above two to endure those that are out of your control.

What do you do to relieve stress in your own life?

Work, family, holidays- the stress can build up. What do you do to relieve stress in your own life?

Hi Miss M,
Relieving stress is not an as easy task as it seems. The reason is simple: it is intrinsic to the life we live because stress is caused by change and the only constant in this world is change.

So we are doomed to experience stress in our day to day life.

The key to manage it is to build effective stress management techniques in our life as a counter reaction to the stressors.

There are many sources in the net, which address only the effects of stress: headaches, backache, anger .... and recommend therapies easing them for a short period of time (massage, breathing exercise ...). But this is not the point because this is a reactive behavior: we have the bad effect stress has caused and then only we try to ease the pain.

The point is to act proactively: to deal with stress in the long run by addressing the true causes of it and avoiding the negative effects it creates.

Let's start from the point that stress is not really that bad. Certain doses of stress are even beneficial sometimes - during exams or at work for instance. We need it to mobilize and deliver the best we are able to.

So the question is not really how to get rid of stress completely but how to have the optimal stress levels in our lives. It is about effective stress management.

Effective stress management or the Science of Dealing with Change has one basic goal: to find out how to set up the basic activities we do in our day to day life in a way which guarantees minimal negative effects experienced as a result of stress.

Five simple steps guarantee us a good start towards a healthy life:
1 Mind your words
2 Keep smiling
3 Recognize your victories
4 Pay attention to what you eat
5 Move

If you stick to them there is a good chance that the events in your life will be only contributing to your ultimate success in the battle against stress.

Lower Blood Pressure Naturally?

I've already started to exercise regularly (cardio and resistance training), I've started myself on stress management, I'm eating a healthy diet, I'm drinking 80 oz of water a day, and I am working on my weight. My question is what kind of food help lower blood pressure best? Is there anything that I can eat that will "wash out" my system?

Dogrose :) In other words, its a wild rose.

Buy the dry dogrose fruit, put it in a pot or a cup that has a lid, or a thermos. Then pour over hot boiling water and let stand for 2 hours. It tastes kinda like tea. I usually add sugar and lemon in it cuz i don't really like the taste it brings out.

I'm sick, and today my husband made me some of that and i drank it in the morning. It washes out the digestive system. And i had a doctors appoitment today at 10am. (I'm 20 weeks pregnant) I was surprised when my doctor told me i have low blood pressure! Which was wierd cuz i NEVER have low blood pressure. but with high blood pressure, this will be your saviour!!! I knew that it reduces blood pressure, but didn't know it'll have such a fast effect on it!!!

Wish you luck :) It's a totally safe thing to drink, :) It helps alot with diirea too. :)
